Virgin Coco Oil (VCO)

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO)

Is a pure natural oil and imfamously known to have higher quality and more benefits than ordinary coconut oil, because it goes through different extraction processes. Virgin coconut oil is obtained directly from fresh coconut milk without going through the process of heating, refining, bleaching, and scenting so it does not change the natural properties of the oil. This makes the word “ virgin ” clear in front of “ coconut oil ”. Generally VCO is used for cosmetic raw materials and is also consumed directly as a high-calorie nutritional intake.

Benefits of VCO

Cardiovascular Health Support

Virgin coconut oil is enriched in fatty acids that help the body's metabolism, thus preventing the accumulation of fat in the arteries.

Encourages Burning of Body Fat

VCO oil is a rich source of medium chain triglycerides (MCT), a type of saturated fat. By consuming MCTs can increase the number of calories the body burns. Thus, it can help promote weight loss and must be consumed within normal limit.

Bone and Teeth Protections

The high antioxidant content in VCO is known to help the body fight the causes of health problems in bones and teeth.

Increases HDL (Good Cholesterol) Levels

Coconut oil consumption also increases levels of High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol. This is done by reducing low density lipoprotein (LDL) levels or bad cholesterol levels.

Help Cope Up with Stress

Coconut oil has been shown to help reduce stress due to chronic colds. In addition, researchers also believe that the benefits of VCO can also be relied on to prevent depression.

Helps Overcome Fungus and Bacteria on the Skin

The benefit of VCO is to moisturize dry skin due to weather, sun exposure, to someone's habit of always being in the AC room. This oil is rich in fatty acids, namely lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, caprylic acid, capric acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and stearic acid which can penetrate several layers of the skin. VCO oil is actually like an envelope. VCO will coat the skin and help prevent the water content in the skin from evaporating.

Source of Body Energy

The content of medium chain triglycerides (MCT) in VCO works towards the liver and becomes a fast energy supply in the same way as carbohydrates.

Anti-Microbial Effects

VCO has antimicrobial content to kill germs, If used properly VCO oil can also prevent the growth of acne-causing bacteria. In addition, virgin coconut oil effectively kills staphylococcus aureus bacteria that cause fungal infections in humans.

Overcoming Stomach Pain

The anti-bacterial function of VCO can coat the stomach and esophagus walls to reduce pain.

Dry Facial Skin Moisturizer

The benefit of VCO is to help overcome fungi and bacteria on the skin. A study on Fatty Acids and Derivatives as Antimicrobial Agents proved that lauric acid in VCO oil is the most effective ingredient to inhibit bacterial growth.

Skin Hydration

VCO oil helps prevent skin from dehydration and 'refills' the eroded skin layer with fatty acid content. This makes the skin more hydrated, soft, and supple .

Hair Care

The benefit of VCO is to help hair growth and shine. In addition, VCO is also able to soften hair and clean hair from dandruff. Applying virgin coconut oil to damage or healthy hair can increase protein levels and protect the hair shaft. This benefit can also be applied to nails to prevent them from brittleness. VCO is also very good in helping the process of regrowth of damaged hair. This oil provides better protection for hair from damage by reducing the formation of split ends as its high protein fills the gaps between hair cells and protects them from harsh chemical damage.

Cocopeat

Cocopeat

Cocopeat block (coco pith) is the powder from coconut coir that have been pressed and shaped into blocks bar. People often use cocopeat block as the planting media as an alternative to soil because it contains nutritious elements needed by plants. The nutritious elements are potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sodium, and many other minerals. Cocopeat has similar texture to soil, but its better in capability to store and retain water. Hence, cocopeat is considered as a better choice than soil as planting media, especially in hydroponic industry and anthurium plant. As the water can be retained better, the plant and its root will not easily dried out and helps the growth of roots quickly. Furthermore, cocopeat can degrade well in soil which make it eco-friendly. Cocopeat is also a great oxygenation property, which is important to the health and development of the roots of the plant.
There are 2 types of block cocopeats that are distinguished based on the level of electrical conductivity. In short, electrical conductivity is the measure of potential transport an electrical charge in water.

  • Low EC: Mostly used as growing media
  • High EC: Commonly used as the bedding material in animal farms because it able to bind the smells around it
